Singer-Songwriter Jackson Dyer Drops Soulful New Single "CBSKY"
Born in Sydney and based in Berlin, singer-songwriter Jackson Dyer has been stunning fans with his one-of-a-kind indie enchantments for several years now. To know that Dyer is holed up somewhere working on new music is to know that something special is going to come out of it — but it also means we have to wait impatiently for his next magic to strike.
Just a few days ago, Dyer released “CBSKY,” both a new single and music video following up his 2016 EP, Compartments. Though there’s no official release date just yet, we know that “CBSKY” is the first single off Dyer’s upcoming debut album, Inlet, so while he’s given us a brief reprieve from waiting, we’ll have to feign patience just a little longer as he finishes off the record. Luckily, we’re confident that Inlet will be worth the wait.
Hear Dyer talk a bit about the new track below:
“CBSKY” opens with looming, jazzy keys before Dyer’s soulful voice kicks in above quick slaps of percussion. The arrangement bursts into a refreshing wave of shimmering indie rhythms before dropping back out for Dyer’s lax delivery to score the spotlight. There’s a gorgeous unity to the track that surprises and transforms — at times, the multi-instrumentation offers a lush soundscape that pulses and vibrates, but at other times, it calms like the quiet sea to flutter a tender melodic line. Throughout the composition, Dyer’s soft voice moves seamlessly in and out of the warm indie twang he’s crafted.
The music video for “CBSKY” mimics the sunny serenity of the song in the form of soothing landscape shots interspersed between Dyer’s sweet performance. We watch waves crash slow and towering trees waver and wine trickle from the bottle. It’s a carousel of pretty scenes that, when paired with the lulling music, acts as a sort of salve for stress. Only Jackson Dyer can soothe the soul so softly.
