Can't Stop, Won't Stop Dancing To PRVNA's New Single "Fever"
PRVNA has one of those voices that entrances. It’s not soft like a dream or strong like a powerhouse — it’s somewhere in the middle, a distinct tone able to transform from verse to verse. Nowhere is this more true than on her newest single “Fever.”
“I love dancing. I’m always the first one up on the dance floor and I’ve had so many people tell me how ‘Fever’ is the summer tune to do that,” PRVNA tells The Music Mermaid about her new release. “For me that’s a success because I went to the studio exactly to do that. I love a bit of hip-hop and I managed to break some barriers doing my first singing-rapping tune which was big for me.”
PRVNA’s anecdote about “Fever” is totally accurate — it is indeed a get-up-and-dance song. Interestingly, though, its very beginning boasts a clapped beat accompanied by jazzy, coffeehouse undertones, so “Fever” doesn’t get into its punchy vivacity until about twenty seconds in. Once it does, it’s off to the races, tracking an addictive electronic arrangement for three minutes of steady percussive beats, warbling synth, and layers of dance elements, all mashed together under PRVNA’s vocal leadership. Alternating between cool rap delivery and breathy soul, PRVNA’s voice is a vehicle for the blooming, thumping nature of “Fever.”
