Philly Producer City Rain Drops "Wasted," First Single in 3 Years
Maybe you remember City Rain -- the electro-pop gems, insistent percussion, and positive sing-alongs -- but you've never heard City Rain like this. After a three year hiatus and line-up change, original bandleader Ben Runyan brings the project back, undertaking it as a solo endeavor for his electric production finesse.
On "Wasted," City Rain's first single in three years, bubbling electronic treatment merges with energetic pop-rock for an addictive anthem. The track is fully developed, every production detail met with Runyan's expertise as he layers vocal riffs atop percussive lines and sparkling rhythms. Despite its negative subject matter (Runyan mulls in the intro, "Think about all the red flags I saw / When you came into my life / With a pretty face and an empty smile"), the song buzzes with color and flavor, pumping along with high-energy multi-instrumentation and a fervid vocal performance. "Wasted," in all its addictive glory, is a welcome comeback from City Rain -- a loud and proud return that only signifies more good tunes to come.
