Pop Songstress Jenna Kalista Stuns With Empowering Anthem "Phoenix"
Jenna Kalista doesn't have time for games. Hailing from Los Angeles, the sunny songstress has one goal in mind: to share her music and do what she loves.
Jenna studied at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, having been majorly involved with affiliated choirs and productions. Though she's currently making her way in LA's saturated music world as a pop artist, her main vocal training has been in classical and opera, in-depth studies that have afforded her many wins with high-profile voice competitions over the years. Now, she forges ahead in the world of sparkling, catchy pop with her debut single "Phoenix," released over the summer.
"Phoenix" opens with a fuzzy crackling tone, conjuring images of a late night bonfire with your best friends. Suddenly, a twinkly rhythm comes in attached to Jenna's steady voice. Within just a few seconds, she moves from a strong, balanced alto to a breathy vocal sweep. The song bubbles with insistent fizzy beats while fiery explosions of percussive layers swarm around Jenna's versatile delivery, passionately singing "Rise up from the ashes, I keep coming back / 'Cause a phoenix never dies." Towards the end of the track, Jenna begins to repeatedly chant "I'm alive," a mesmerizing mantra acting as a reminder of how authentic she really is, and, most importantly, how present she is. "Phoenix" is a beautifully crafted anthem for empowerment. Decadent in its pop elements and impressive in its production, the song is a wild frenzy of freedom, a fire in which Jenna Kalista is elegantly reborn.
