Pop Producer Holy Mattress Money Releases "Let You Down" With Cassidy King

A few years ago, Ohio-based Jesty Beatz emerged on the pop producer scene with his Holy Mattress Money moniker, a project that has since allowed him to lay powerful bases of electronica pumping beneath the vocals of emerging artists. Since 2017, he’s released over 20 in-your-face singles. On “Let You Down,” the newest release from Holy Mattress Money, he delivers a trippy remix of Cleveland artist Cassidy King’s 2018 track.

Hear what Jesty told The Music Mermaid about the track below:

The original “Let You Down” by Cassidy King is as gloomy as its title suggests. A creeping dark-pop track, it’s weighed down by slow-burning electronic rhythms and Cassidy’s emotional vocal delivery, but there are moments when it bursts just a bit before fizzling out, like lighting a cigarette during a rain storm.

In the hands of Holy Mattress Money, “Let You Down” is transformed into a wistful dance ballad that hugs Cassidy’s voice to its chest, allowing her tone to mature over a bed of trickling percussion and deep throbs of electronic beats. It’s an icy arrangement, coated in this overwhelming feeling of resignation or desperation, so the combination of Cassidy’s songwriting and Jesty’s production is a bittersweet achievement. “Let You Down” slinks along with tender dark-dance treatment, urgent in its quick crescendos and violent drops.
