R&B Crooner Sam Setton Returns With Sexy Single "Gum"
Sam Setton’s come a long way since his 2017 debut. Over the past few years, he’s honed in on a distinct brand of R&B dripping with dreamy passion, a sound so smooth that it’s garnered the attention of fans all over. Today, he releases his latest single, “Gum,” yet another sexy slow-burn that has since seem to become his signature style.
“When I started writing ‘Gum,’ I knew I wanted to write an intensely descriptive song about what it feels like to be in love. I started writing the song little by little over a three-week span in the stairwell of my apartment in NYC,” Sam tells The Music Mermaid about the track. “I ended up going back and forth to LA for months to get the final recording just right! The hardest part was coming up with the title, [but I] finally came up with 'Gum’ during the final recording session as the perfect metaphor for the powerful, but often fleeting, feeling of love.”
Expertly capturing that punchy, bittersweet freefall into love’s waiting arms, Sam presents a sultry R&B track destined to be the soundtrack to your greatest romance. “Gum” opens with Sam’s breathy croon singing over a melodic guitar line and staccato drum beats. There’s the buzz of synth vibrating in the background, swelling in cool color like waves behind the drowsy slap of R&B rhythms. When Sam sings, “I think you’re all I need forever,” it’s the apex of lusty love songs, the moment in a deliciously smooth ballad that you’re struck by the utter romance of it, slinking beneath an arrangement that radiates with sincere sensuality. It’s a remarkable composition, made wholly perfect by Sam’s dreamy vocals and sense for clean production.
