Americana Singer-Songwriter, Shlomo Franklin, Delivers Aching Plea On New Single
When we last featured the passion and poetics of Shlomo Franklin, we were swooning over his high-energy romp "Funny Boy" and his sweet ballad "January Eyes." Now, Shlomo returns with yet another stunner.
In preparation of his upcoming EP, Don't Love Anybody, releasing next month, Shlomo has officially dropped the title track. Below, he eloquently walks us through the new song, chatting a bit about on-the-spot harmonies, love that leaves, and more.
"Don't Love Anybody" opens with sleepy guitar strums before Shlomo's gravelly croon moves in, laying claims about learning to live without the one he loves, though the opening verse concludes with this aching, resounding plea: "Please don't love anybody else." The song progresses along these lullaby-like lines, soft percussive hits and that steady guitar still swaying beneath Shlomo's vocals.
The middle of the track finds new texture, new direction; minimalist rhythms give way to a more rousing, empowered composition, automatically elevating the emotion of the song. Suddenly, an orchestral swell of strings joins the arrangement in a crescendo as the vocal delivery becomes more impassioned. The song fades out, swirling with buzzes of decadent strings and ghostly harmonies. "Don't Love Anybody" is a dreamy serenade dripping with tender confession, built upon dazzling arrangements awash in golden talent. Each element of Shlomo's latest single has been curated with care, ultimately forming one stunning single.
