Sneak Peek: Alt-Indie Band A Greater Tomorrow's Preview Of New Single "Sleep"
Maybe you haven't heard of A Greater Tomorrow yet, but trust us -- you need this band in regular playlist rotation. The Missouri-based alt-indie group is composed of four killer talents combining their angsty indie instrumentals into one anthemic sound.
Tomorrow, the guys will be dropping their new single "Sleep" along with a music video accompaniment, but The Music Mermaid scored a special sneak peek preview just for you. You can watch a clip cut right from the final video below in preparation of tomorrow's official release.
As you can tell from the sneak peek, "Sleep" is a radio-ready alt-rock anthem pulsing with steady, raging percussion and a hypnotic hook. Echoing, aching vocals relay a confession repeatedly before the song drops a few detailed verses as the bass line thumps quietly beneath a more vivid guitar rhythm.
The music video for "Sleep" is just as spellbinding: footage of the band jamming hard -- and standing still -- is awash in a warm palette, interspersed with darkened shots of the nightmarish visuals that plague our narrator's sleep -- or lack of. Much of the track takes a minimalist approach, relying heavily on recurring motifs of vocal riffs and rhythm lines. The pieces of "Sleep," though sparse, are all so entrancing and dynamic that the song feels powered by an unrelenting force of music magic. That force being, of course, the band's camaraderie: four magnetic performers pooling their irrefutable talents in the landscape of rocking alt-indie anthems.
