Toronto Singer-Songwriter Laurent Bourque Delivers Lush "Thinking of you"
Last month, Toronto-based artist Laurent Bourque dropped his recent single “Thinking of you” years after the release of his award-winning debut album, Pieces Of Your Past. In the five years since its release, Laurent has grown up. The years have done him good, allowing him to further solidify the feel-good lullaby tone he does so well.
Hear what Laurent had to tell us about “Thinking of you” below:
Off his upcoming album, Blue hour, out next month, “Thinking of you” (along with lead single “Matador”) is a lush re-introduction to Laurent’s warmth as both a vocalist and a songwriter. As Laurent says above, “Thinking of you” is a wistful reflection on the anxiety of reaching out to someone from your past, so the sonic palette mimics this with moody mid-tempo rhythms and nostalgic lyrics while still charging forward, slowly, subtly, and surely, with a steady thread of warm, wavy textures led by Laurent’s soothing voice. “Thinking of you” is a sleepy groove that takes its time humming along — it’s real good.
